Stump Grinding & Removal
The last thing standing after a removal, and the one thing that keeps the yard from looking finished.
Grinding takes the stump down below grade — usually four to eight inches under, deeper if you are putting in sod or planting something new in the same spot. What is left is a pile of chips and soil you can rake flat and seed.
Full removal, where the root plate comes out whole, is a bigger and more expensive job that leaves a real hole in the yard. It is worth it when you are pouring a slab, running a fence line, or putting a new tree in exactly the same place. For nearly every other reason, grinding is the right call.
Old stumps we did not plant are welcome too. A stump that has been there four years grinds the same as one from last week, and it is a short job.
